WHILE, Waspada.co.id – Bank Sumut has again demonstrated its real commitment to supporting the success of the 21st Aceh-Sumut National Sports Week (PON) 2024.
In the event which took place at the PB PON Post at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office, Thursday (15/8) afternoon, Bank Sumut established a sponsorship partnership with the Grand Committee (PB) of PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024.
The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was attended by the President Director of Bank Sumut Babay Parid Wazdi, Director of Business & Sharia of Bank Sumut Syafrizalsyah, Secretary General of PB PON XXI Effendi Pohan and Head of Marketing of PB PON XXI Faisal Arief Nasution.
Bank Sumut President Director, Babay Parid Wazdi, said he was grateful to be able to continue implementing the direction of Acting Governor Agus Fatoni so that his party would pay full attention to the success of PON.
“This collaboration is not only a form of financial support, but also a representation of Bank Sumut’s social responsibility as a financial institution that cares about the progress of sports in the country,” he said, Thursday (22/8).
On this occasion, it was also announced that Bank Sumut would issue ATM cards with a special PON design, which is expected to be a spirit and symbol of support for PON.
Babay CEO Parid Wazdi also explained that as one of the official sponsors, Bank Sumut has prepared various initiatives to enliven the PON.
Initiatives also carried out by Bank Sumut include installing PON banners in 218 Bank Sumut office units, PON advertisements on around 350 ATM screens, and installing PON stickers and branding on branch managers’ vehicles in areas where PON matches are taking place.
“Then the creation of PON photobooths in 3 Bank Sumut branch offices, which will be an attraction for the public to capture their moments related to PON,” he said.
PON quiz activities on Bank Sumut social media started in September, to increase public participation and enthusiasm for PON.
“The implementation of the Video Competition related to PON which will be participated by the community and Bank Sumut employees, as a form of creativity and support for PON,” he explained.
Also the installation of billboards and pennants in various strategic locations to enliven the atmosphere of PON in North Sumatra. Also sponsorship funds of Rp 2 billion.
It was stated that the XXI PON which will be held in 2024 is an important momentum for North Sumatra, and Bank Sumut’s support is expected to have a positive impact, both in improving athlete achievements and in introducing regional potential to the national stage.
The President Director of Bank Sumut added that this contribution is in line with Bank Sumut’s vision to not only focus on banking services, but also play an active role in various activities that have a positive impact on society.
“We believe that this support will not only bring achievements in the field of sports but also increase the sense of pride of the people of North Sumatra towards their region,” he added.

Secretary General of PB PON Effendi Pohan stated that the funds amounting to Rp 2 billion submitted by Bank Sumut will be used for various operational needs and preparations for PON XXI.
“This support is also expected to inspire other parties to participate in making this event a success, which is a source of shared pride,” he said.
