Participation of FODSA South Aegean S.A. in the 7th International Forum of the UN Economic Commission for Europe

The emerging challenges and perspectives in waste management in the South Aegean Region were presented at the 7th International Forum of the UN Economic Commission by the Director General of FODSA South Aegean.

Dr. Christos Gambroudis, invited by the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the Public-Private Partnerships Unit of the General Secretariat of Private Investments and PPPs, developed during the Forum on May 4, 2023, in a special panel on the experience of Greece in the implementation SDITs aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the environmental challenges and perspectives of insularity through projects and actions implemented by FOSDA of the South Aegean, focusing on its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Special mention during the presentation was given to The Rhodes Co-Lab and Tilos Just go Zero projects which are now receiving global recognition and are models of sustainable innovation and green development.

Finally, the progress and next steps for the two critical and important waste management projects that have already been tendered with SDIT in the South Aegean Region, the Integrated Waste Management System of Rhodes and the Integrated Waste Management System of Thira, were presented in detail. which will be standards of overall rational environmental management in the field of waste management, based on the principles of the circular economy, giving a new important impetus to the quality of the environment, but also to the strengthening of the work and competitiveness of the South Aegean Region and of the country.
