DISPATCH — For its ninth edition, the summer event “Partir en Livre” will be placed under the sign of freedom and will feature the turbulent “Mortelle Adèle” as heroine. From June 22 to July 23, young readers in France will be able to take advantage of thousands of workshops all over France, and buy their favorite books.

Since the creation of “Partir en Livre” in 2015, the objective of the National Book Center (CNL) has been clear: to instill a taste for reading in the youngest. Helped by the Ministry of Culture, it has been marking the summer for nine years. Each year, the event is organized around a unique theme, hero and godparents. In 2023, it will be the successful heroine “Mortelle Adèle” who will embody freedom, with the precious help of her two creators: author Antoine Dole and illustrator Diane Le Feyer. For a bit of magic, Éric Antoine will also join the party.

Throughout France, some 207 regional projects will see the light of day, with more than 700 participating authors and illustrators: bookmobiles, graphic workshops, storytelling walks, cartoon concerts, exhibitions, literary snacks, collective frescoes, readings by the water… There will be something for everyone.

In addition, this year will see the birth of the Livrodrome, a traveling literary festival which will make its own tour of France in eight dates:

  • Paris at the CNL on June 22 and 23
  • Coucy-le-Château on June 29
  • All June 30
  • tulle 4th of july
  • Brive-la-Gaillarde on July 7
  • Chalon-sur-Saône on July 11
  • Lyon on July 18
  • Marseilles on July 21

On this occasion, budding readers will receive a check from the CNL and will be able to buy their favorite books. To get an overview of what will be on offer, the CNL has commissioned children’s literature specialist Nathalie Le Breton a bibliography on freedom.
