IKNL has worked with various partners to develop the Cancer Atlas.

The Cancer Atlas is an IKNL initiative that was created in collaboration with a number of other parties. For example, the Dutch Cancer Atlas closely follows the methodology used in the Australian Cancer Atlas, and the project team of the Dutch Cancer Atlas has collaborated and coordinated a lot with the team of the Australian Cancer Atlas during development.

The Australian Atlas was developed with a team of statisticians, cancer researchers, visualization and IT experts from Cancer Council Queensland, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and representatives from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) . It was supported by the FrontierSI, with input from governments, the public and the media.

IKNL has also made use of the expertise of internal and external statisticians, epidemiologists, researchers and specialists in the field of cancer and IT experts for the Netherlands Cancer Atlas. Experts, such as experts from scientific professional associations and cancer patient associations, and epidemiologists and medical environmentalists from all GGDs in the Netherlands, have also been invited to look at the texts and the interpretation of the variation of various types of cancer in the Netherlands.

Furthermore, KWF has decided to launch the Cancer Local on the Map financing project following the launch of the Cancer Atlas and in coordination with IKNL and GGD-GHOR Netherlands. In it, KWF makes supplementary funding to that of the government available to GGDs and municipalities to support an approach to cancer prevention at a regional level.
