A group of partners of players from the English national team is apparently planning to organize bodyguards for the European Championships in Germany. This is reported by the British tabloid “The Sun”. Accordingly, the security precautions of the English Football Association (FA) are not sufficient for the group.
The fear of terrorist attacks at the major event is also said to play a role. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) recently announced that she would increase the number of staff. “German police forces will be deployed at the Olympics in Paris, French police will be deployed at the Euros in Germany,” she said.
Almost 120,000 euros in costs
The group of women, including Fern Maguire (Harry Maguire), Megan Pickford (Jordan Pickford), Tolami Benson (Bukayo Saka) and Sasha Attwood (Jack Grealish), apparently want to select and hire ex-military men.
According to “The Sun”, the costs are said to amount to more than 100,000 pounds, which is the equivalent of 117,000 euros. The tabloid also quotes a source in the FA who confirms the plans and emphasizes that the bodyguards should not act too conspicuously: “They operate from a discreet distance so that the group does not attract too much attention to themselves. This should lead to that they can enjoy more freedom and feel safer at the same time.”
