In a press release, the CNDP indicates that the areas of cooperation covered by this agreement concern four main axes, namely the fight against defamation and extortion based on the abusive exploitation of data, including personal data, and the fight against disinformation and fake news and the strengthening of the dissemination and access to information.

It also involves, the press release continues, training for journalists and professionals in the processing of personal data, and the creation of national prizes to encourage public and private establishments that respect the protection of personal data and that undertake to respect the right of access to information.

As for the first axis, the convention stipulates the establishment of joint action plans to combat acts of defamation and extortion based on the abusive exploitation of data, including personal data, with the aim of protecting citizens and public and private institutions from violations relating to unauthorized publication and infringing their personal data and their constitutional rights, including the right to protection of privacy.

The second axis relating to the fight against disinformation and the strengthening of the dissemination and access to information concerns, for its part, the joint action of the three bodies, aware of the obvious seriousness of the spread of fake news, with the aim of strengthening reliable and verified information, in application of the constitutional right to access to information, specifies the press release, noting that this involves the organization of awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at improving access for the general public and professionals to reliable sources of information.

Aware of the importance of continuing education, the three bodies, within the framework of the third axis, will organize specialized training programs for the benefit of journalists and professionals in the processing of personal data.

These training courses aim to strengthen skills in the field of data protection, to encourage ethical and responsible practices in the collection, use and dissemination of information, as well as to guarantee the right of access to public information.

Regarding the fourth axis, the convention stipulates the creation of national prizes to encourage public and private institutions that meet the standards in force in the field of personal data protection on the one hand, and the strengthening of access to information on the other hand. These prizes aim to promote good practices in these vital areas, concludes the CNDP.
