At the weekly general assembly of November 23 in Gbessia, officials of the national political office of the Rainbow RPG denounced the pressure placed on its executives in the administration. They also urge the military to respect their commitments.
After the fall of ex-president Alpha Condé, certain executives of his party, the Rainbow Rpg, were kept in the administration by the junta. But the party’s national political office believes that they are under pressure, asked to support the military in power.
Moro Kourouma, president of the National Bureau of Executives, accuses the junta of having tried “by all means” to divert public opinion for its own benefit: “We improvised all the generational and ethnic arguments, so that the Guinean society of political parties. We know what our executives experience in offices and at all levels. We are sure that they have not lost confidence in their party. We call on them to be vigilant, resilient and to believe in the future of the country.”
Moro Kourouma to insist on loyalty, commitment and word of honor: “The party executives in the administration, the women in the markets, the activists, wherever you are, you have animated the Rpg arc- rainbow for 17 years. We are sure of your maturity, your commitment, your attachment to President Alpha Condé.”
Mr. Kourouma urges the President of the Transition, Mamadi Doumbouya, to return power to civilians. And to maintain that after December 31, the Guinean army “will not accept that Guinea remains the hostage of a few clans. We want the liberation of Guinea. We are sure that the army will defend this great people.”
Call to learn lessons
Mohamed Lamine Kamissoko, from the national political office of the Rainbow Rpg, invites the junta to draw lessons from the case of the former transitional president, Moussa Dadis Camara, who tried to stay in power in 2009: “ Sorry, open your eyes! Don’t listen to people who mislead you. Once you make a mistake, they abandon you and you will be left alone. I respectfully hope that General Mamadi Doumbouya understands that I wish him well. We can make up for it, redeem ourselves…”.
As part of political propaganda in favor of the junta, the former deputy denounces “an extraordinary financial drain” in the administration. He invites the President of the Transition to respect the limits established by the Charter of the Transition, but also to return power to civilians at the end of this year, “which is good for him and for the people of Guinea”, concludes Mohamed Lamine Kamissoko.

How does Moro Kourouma plan to strengthen the Rainbow RPG’s influence in Guinea despite current pressures?
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Moro Kourouma, President of the National Bureau of Executives of the Rainbow RPG
Time.news Editor: Good day, Moro Kourouma. Thank you for joining us to discuss the recent developments following the general assembly of the Rainbow RPG. Your party’s concerns about pressure in the administration post-Alpha Condé have resonated throughout the political landscape. Can you start by elaborating on the nature of this pressure you’re seeing from the military junta?
Moro Kourouma: Thank you for having me. The pressure we are observing is quite concerning. Following the fall of ex-president Alpha Condé, many of our party’s executives remained in their administrative roles. However, it has become evident that they face undue influence and coercion to support the current military regime, which is deeply troubling for a democratic society.
Time.news Editor: It seems this is part of a broader strategy by the junta. You mentioned in your assembly speech that they have “improvised generational and ethnic arguments.” Can you explain what you meant by that?
Moro Kourouma: Certainly. The junta has attempted to manipulate public perception by fostering divisions within our society based on generational and ethnic lines. This tactic aims to dilute the support for our party and pit different groups against one another. We believe this is a tactic to divert attention from their governance failures and to maintain control over the narrative in Guinea.
Time.news Editor: That’s a powerful assertion. You’ve called upon the party executives to remain vigilant and resilient. What specific actions or strategies do you envision to counter this pressure and maintain your party’s integrity?
Moro Kourouma: It is essential that our members stay united. We are encouraging our executives in the administration, as well as our activists and supporters in the markets, to demonstrate loyalty to the ideals of the Rainbow RPG and the legacy of President Alpha Condé. We believe that this commitment, coupled with ongoing dialog within our party, is key for sustaining our presence and influence during these challenging times.
Time.news Editor: You talked about commitment to the party’s principles and the past leadership. How do you foresee the future of the Rainbow RPG under such conditions? Are there any long-term plans or a vision that can instill confidence in your supporters?
Moro Kourouma: Absolutely. Our vision is built on the foundations of democracy, accountability, and inclusiveness. While the current climate is challenging, we are dedicated to fostering a political environment that allows for the expression of diverse opinions and encourages democratic participation. We will invest in grassroots mobilization and training for our members, ensuring that they remain informed and are able to advocate effectively for our party’s vision.
Time.news Editor: Given the current political landscape, what message do you wish to convey to both your party supporters and the wider Guinean society?
Moro Kourouma: My message is one of hope and determination. To our supporters, I want to reaffirm that their confidence in the Rainbow RPG is more crucial now than ever. We are a party that has weathered storms for 17 years, and our future is bright if we remain committed to our principles. To the broader society, I encourage vigilance and resilience; it is our responsibility to cultivate a political culture that respects democratic values and human rights. Together, we can build a future we can all be proud of.
Time.news Editor: Thank you, Moro Kourouma. Your insights into the Rainbow RPG’s current challenges and your call for unity provide a comprehensive view of the situation. We appreciate your time and wish you strength as you navigate these turbulent waters.
Moro Kourouma: Thank you for having me. It’s important we continue these conversations for the betterment of our democracy.
