Pasadena Little League Hit by Equipment Theft; Police Seek Suspect
A brazen theft has struck the Pasadena Southwest Little League, with surveillance footage released showing a suspect stealing “thousands of dollars” worth of baseball equipment from Allendale Park. The incident, which occurred early Friday morning, has left the league scrambling to replace lost gear and maintain its facilities.
The Pasadena Southwest Little League shared the surveillance video, hoping to identify the individual responsible for the break-in at their Allendale Park location, situated at 1130 South Marengo Ave. in Pasadena. The footage depicts a man with a distinctive mustache and goatee inside the equipment shed and snack shack, clad in a blue baseball cap and dark clothing.
Community Impact of the Theft
The loss extends far beyond the monetary value of the stolen items. As one league representative poignantly stated, “This space is more than just bats and helmets… it’s where memories are made, friendships are built, and dreams take flight.” The league emphasized the emotional toll of the theft, asserting that the perpetrator “didn’t just steal equipment, you stole from a community of children who show up every day with heart, hustle, and hope.”
The stolen equipment includes a significant amount of athletic gear and supplies, impacting the league’s ability to fully maintain the field. Despite the setback, the league remains committed to ensuring the children can continue to play baseball.
League Response and Future Plans
“We are able to still play baseball, the kids will still play,” said a board member in an interview with ABC7. “We just won’t be able to maintain the field and we’ll have to gather some funds and try to get some new equipment for the field so we can replace all the lost stuff.” The league is actively seeking donations and fundraising opportunities to offset the financial burden and restore the field to its previous condition.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity to contact either the Pasadena Southwest Little League directly or the Pasadena Police Department. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are hopeful that the individual responsible will be brought to justice.
The league’s resilience in the face of this adversity underscores the enduring spirit of community baseball and the dedication of volunteers who work tirelessly to provide a positive experience for young athletes.
