A 31 year old police officerwho wanted to supplement his wages by working on a truck, is the dead from the building collapse in the Pasalimani on Tuesday morning.
According to information, the 31-year-old special guard Agathangelos Papadopoulosoriginally from Elefthero Grevenon, he joined the police force as a special guard in 2019, he served in the DIAS team of Southeast Attica and was in the truck that was crushed by the rubble caused by the collapse of the Neorion Street building.

The collapse of the building occurred during works for which, according to the mayor of Piraeus, Yiannis Moralis, an electronic permit had been issued for minor works. “The dead man was in the car. The wall fell and flattened him” added the resident of the area who estimated that “the wrong handling was done, they hit the wrong place and the building fell”.

Another testimony about what happened on Tuesday morning in Pasalimani with a 31-year-old police officer losing his life in a building collapse on Neorion Street was submitted by a resident of the area to protothema.gr.
According to the resident, the unfortunate policeman “jumped from the building into the truck to save himself and was crushed by the falling debris.” “We heard a noise, I couldn’t understand what happened, I thought it was rubble falling from a pipe. I saw the dust. From the voices of people saying ‘call the police’ I realized what was happening” the woman began her description of what happened in Pasalimani.
“When the dust settled and we went out on the balcony we saw that the workers were very shocked. Fire, police came very quickly to help. What they said is that the man who died jumped into the truck to save himself and was crushed by the rubble. It was a big effort to get him out, they were fighting for a long time” concluded the resident of the area in her testimony.
