It is unlikely that intimidating one’s own population is the best way to achieve a result that suits Armenia.

As Day.Az reported on Wednesday, this was stated during today’s briefing by the head of the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on recent statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the threat of war with Azerbaijan.

“It is necessary to resolve these issues in a calm, constructive manner. There is a mechanism for this – a commission on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. We are ready to help in this work, taking into account our experience. The work should be carried out within this structure. We are ready to provide all possible assistance,” – she said.

Zakharova added that Russia in no way has anything to do with the decisions that were announced as possible by the Armenian leadership.

“No consultations were held with us on this matter. There were no contacts,” she emphasized.

Let us note that Pashinyan recently said that “there will be a war at the end of the week” if the country does not discuss the delimitation and demarcation of the border with Azerbaijan.

“But this means that at the end of the week there will be a war. And I know what will happen at the end of this war,” he said.

According to Pashinyan, “Armenia should not allow a war with Azerbaijan,” so it is necessary to “adjust the border.” According to the Prime Minister of Armenia, “there is a real opportunity” to begin the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border between the two countries.

Let us recall that on March 7, on the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, the seventh meeting of the State Commission on State Border Delimitation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia and the Commission on State Border Delimitation and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijan Republic was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan.

The parties exchanged views on delimitation issues and began agreeing on the draft Regulations on the joint activities of the State Commission on State Border Delimitation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia and the Commission on State Border Delimitation and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijan Republic, and also discussed draft relevant instructions on the procedure for carrying out delimitation work.
