The Armenian service of Radio Liberty Azatutyun writes with reference to the Prime Minister’s office that Nikol Pashinyan today, March 18, he is meeting with residents of Voskepar, Baganis and neighboring villages in Tavush province.

At the press conference held last week, the prime minister promised to visit Tavush and meet local residents.

On the same day, official Yerevan stated that it is ready for the partial delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan. In the official information, it was not excluded that the delimitation process will start from Tavush district.

Official Baku demanded the return of 4 villages under the control of the Armenian armed forces. Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Eskipara, Kheyrimli and Gizilhajili villages of Gazakh district border with Tavush district of Armenia and are located directly on the territory of Azerbaijan.

Pashinyan also stated that these villages are not de jure Armenian territory.

Pashinyan said that he has already given an assignment

The mentioned four villages and the villages of Sofulu, Barkhudarlı and Yukhari Eskipara, located in the form of an enclave in the territory of Armenia, were occupied by Armenia in the 1990s.

But Armenia also states that the Armenia-Georgia interstate highway passes through the territory with the villages demanded by Azerbaijan, and the gas pipeline enters Armenia from here.

Touching on this issue at the press conference, the prime minister said that this is precisely why these infrastructure elements – the road and the gas pipeline – must be rebuilt:

“I have already given a task about this and explained to the residents of our villages in that region what I think and why I think. In the near future, we must take action and make sure that communications beyond our borders are reestablished and fall into Armenia’s own territory.”
