The National Coordinator for Disaster ReductionCONRED-, issued a statement about the first inter-institutional board meeting that was held on the recovery of the Colonia Bran bridge in zone 3 of Guatemala City.

This meeting was held to determine recovery actions for the Adolfo Mijangos López vehicular bridgelocated in Colonia Bran in zone 3 of Guatemala City, whose structure was affected by a traffic accident last Saturday, February 17.

These are some of the agreements established during the meeting:

  • Passage over the bridge will remain disabled
  • A Bailey bridge cannot be installed due to the physical characteristics of the terrain to be covered.
  • A commission was formed to carry out studies and issue a technical opinion on the actions to be taken with the structure of the current bridge.

In addition, it was agreed that the authorities will have periodic follow-up meetings to present progress and proposals.

The Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, the Municipality of Guatemala, the Ministry of National Defense, the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction, the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, the Mariano Gálvez University and the General Directorate of Roads participated in this meeting. .

CONRED recommends using alternative routes
