A passenger flight from Switzerland to Barcelona, Spain was grounded after a radioactive leak.
A flight from Zurich Airport, Switzerland, took off for Barcelona, Spain with 134 passengers and 3 crew members on board. Later, upon arrival at Barcelona airport, it was discovered that a radioactive leak had occurred from one of the suitcases on the plane.
After this, the airport staff surrounded the plane. Also, radiologists were brought in for the test. Passengers were not allowed to disembark from the plane after the staff searched.
While unloading the cargo compartment of the plane, the staff discovered wet patches in the compartment containing the medical supplies. After the radioactive leaks were contained, all 5 employees were hospitalized.
Airport officials said no airport operations were affected by the incident and flights in and out of the busy airport were operating normally.
