Chennai: Passengers have requested the National Rail Passenger Development Committee to resume full operation of all trains which were stopped during the Corona crisis.

The National Rail Passenger Facilities Improvement Team arrived in Tamil Nadu yesterday for a five-day tour. Led by the team leader PK Krishnadas, 12 members including K. Ravichandran inspected five railway stations namely Katpadi, Kudiatham, Ambur, Vaniyampadi and Jolarpet. The passengers were consulted about the existing facilities, facilities to be improved and other requests.

K. Ravichandran, a member of the National Railway Passenger Facilities Development Committee, said: We are conducting a study on the facilities for passengers at the railway stations. Passengers demanded additional seats, fans, ‘escalators, lifts’. Surveillance cameras should be installed at all railway stations to ensure passenger safety. They have requested additional stops for some trains. They have said that all the trains that were stopped during the corona virus should be fully operated again. After that, we expect the railways to fulfill the demands gradually, he said.
