The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) reported that the couple of passengers who were traveling in the helicopter that collapsed on Sunday afternoon in the Coyoacán Mayor’s Office were of Chinese nationality and highlighted that the woman who died in the accident has been identified.
Following up on the investigation, the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office indicated that, once the results of the genetic comparisons between the samples of relatives and the corpses of two people were obtained, it was possible to confirm the identity of the pilot and a woman who was traveling on the aircraft.
He noted that personnel from the General Coordination of Forensic Investigation and Expert Services of the institution continues with work in genetics to confirm the identity of the third deceased person, whose remains correspond to a male body.
Meanwhile, the Territorial Investigation Prosecutor’s Office of the Coyoacán Mayor’s Office was able to confirm that the pilot of the aircraft was a Mexican national.
The other two occupants, a woman and a man, were of Chinese nationality, highlighted the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office, and reported that collaboration has been maintained with diplomatic authorities to provide all the necessary facilities.
The FGJCDMX stated that since the beginning of the investigation it has maintained coordination with personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Directorate of Analysis of Aviation Accidents and Incidents of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).
On Sunday, the SICT confirmed the death of the crew of the BELL HELICOPTER TEXTRON model 206B helicopter with registration XA-PIP, in which a pilot and two passengers were traveling.
The aircraft crashed due to an apparent engine shutdown on a public transportation vehicle repair facility in the Coyoacán mayor’s office.
According to the agency, the pilot, who allegedly maneuvered to avoid falling into a market, had a Commercial Helicopter Pilot license valid as of January 24, 2025 and proof of psychophysical fitness valid as of July 19, 2024.
