The arrangements for Afghan, Syrian, and Iraqi passports have not changed much; It took the last place in the ranking of the best passports this year, according to the “Henley Passport Index,” which periodically determines the ranking of passports in the world in 2024.
The 2024 update showed that the strength of Gulf passports began to improve, while others maintained their same ranking compared to last year.

The positions of many Arab countries have not changed in the latest classification of the power of global passports. Since 2018, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, in addition to Libya and Sudan, have been ranked at the end of the list according to the Henley website. Citizens of these countries can only enter limited countries without the need to obtain a prior visa or upon arrival there, and the 2024 countries in the world are considered the lowest ranked countries in terms of passport ranking in the world.
Regarding the Syrian passport, it has declined compared to last year’s classification. It now allows entry to 29 countries, compared to 30 countries last year, while it now ranks penultimate in the list of the best passports for the year 2024.
As for the Iraqi passport, it has witnessed a slight improvement compared to last year. It now allows entry to 31 countries, compared to 29 countries last year, while it now ranks third on the list of the worst passports in the world, while it ranked second last year.
In the year 2024, Yemeni passport holders can enter 35 countries around the world without the need to obtain a prior visa, which is higher than last year, which allowed entry to 34 countries. As for Palestinian passport holders, they can enter 40 countries around the world, which is higher than last year. In two countries, as for the Lebanese passport, it witnessed improvement. It now allows entry to 45 countries without a visa, compared to 42 countries in 2023.
During the past year, Egyptian, Jordanian, and Algerian passports allowed entry to 53 countries without the need for a visa, and we note that these documents have improved slightly during 2023. It now allows entry to 55 countries for Egypt and Jordan, and 56 countries for Algeria.
As for the Moroccan passport, it has improved this year. It now allows entry to 71 countries in 2024, compared to 65 countries last year, while Tunisia maintained the same rank with 71 countries without a visa.
The most powerful Arab passports 2024
Regarding the most powerful Arab passports in 2024, we find that there is dominance of the Gulf countries, as in previous years.
At the forefront of Arab passports, the United Arab Emirates still maintains the lead. The Emirati passport allows its citizens to enter 183 countries during the year 2024, compared to 178 countries in last year’s ranking. While the Emirati passport still ranks first in the Arab world, its global rank has declined from fifth to seventh in the 2024 classification.
While there is an improvement in the level of the Qatari passport; It now allows entry to 108 countries, compared to 100 countries last year, and the Kuwaiti passport now allows entry to 102 countries during the year 2024, compared to 97 countries in 2023.
This improvement also included the State of Bahrain, as the number of countries that Bahrainis can visit without a visa increased from 87 countries last year to 91 this year, and it also included the Sultanate of Oman. The Omani passport has improved to allow entry to 90 countries compared to 82 countries last year.

The most powerful passport in the world 2024
France ranks first in the world’s passport rankings in 2024; It allows its holders to enter 194 countries around the world without the need to obtain a prior visa. While the ranking of the Japanese and Singaporean passports also remains at the forefront, it now allows entry to 194 countries compared to 193 countries last year.
This year, six countries rank first on the 2024 list: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore and Spain.
It is worth noting that Japan and Singapore have been at the top of the list since 2019. In 2019, both Japan and Singapore ranked first; The passport of each of them allowed entry to 189 countries without a visa, snatching the lead from the German passport, which was first in the world in 2018.
Finland, South Korea, and Sweden rank second in the world’s passport rankings in 2024, with a total of 193 visa-free countries, compared to the 190 countries that were in second place last year.
When looking at the ranking of passports in the world in 2024, we find that Australia stands out in third place, tied with Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands. They compete among themselves for the same rank, as citizens of both countries are allowed to enter 192 countries without a visa.
As for the fourth, fifth and sixth ranks, many countries compete with each other for each rank.
