Thursday June 30, 2022 – End of the event at 4.30 p.m. after 2 hours of concentration. The 2022 patent math test answer key for the general series is now available here.
Topic with few exercises, fairly simple questions, lots of rounding required. A question on the gcd (greatest common divisor) interesting but at the limit of the program.
Series: General – see the pro series answer key here

Exercise 1 :
1) We know that (AC) and (BD) are perpendicular to (AB).
But if two lines are perpendicular to the same third line, then they are parallel to each other.
So (AC) is parallel to (BD).
2) In triangles AEC and EBD
– ???? ???? [CD]
– ???? ???? [AB]
– (AC) // (BD)
According to Thales’ theorem, the triangles AEC and EBD are similar.
EA/EB=AC/BD=EC/ED
20/5 = AC / 1 = EC / ED
AC=1×20/5
AC=4 steps
3) AC = 260 cm and AE = 1300 cm because a step is assimilated to 65cm.
In the right-angled triangle AEC at A. According to the Pythagorean theorem:
EC² = AC² + AE²
EC²= 260² + 1300²
EC² = 67 600 + 1 690 000
EC² = 1 757 600
EC ≈ 1326 cm
EC ≈ 132,6 dm
So EC ≈ 13.3 m.
