The patient died after the ambulance which was trying to save the biker who had jumped across Kochi’s Kalur overturned. Narayanan’s wife Vineetha died at Paravoor Karingamthuruth Mundolipad. The police registered a case of involuntary manslaughter and arrested the ambulance driver. The accident happened near Kalur NIA court around 3:00 in the afternoon. Vineetha, who was being treated at a private hospital in Paravur, fell ill and was on her way to a hospital in Kochi. Vineeta was also given oxygen inside the ambulance. When he reached the court, the bike took a U-turn and suddenly came in front of the ambulance. The ambulance overturned after the driver braked to save the biker.

Locals and nearby traders rushed to the ambulance. As Vineetha’s condition worsened in the fall, she was taken to the hospital in the same ambulance but could not be saved. Her husband Narayanan, who was with Vineetha in the vehicle, was also injured. The biker who caused the accident left the spot immediately. Accidents are common here where there is no U-turn sign. Ambulance driver Sreekesh has been arrested. The body will be handed over to the relatives tomorrow after post-mortem.
