He points out that Latvian industry has proven that it is capable of producing such modern devices and that today’s event is important in the history of Latvian defense.
He also emphasizes that armored personnel carriers have proven that they are of high quality and fulfill their function. Until now, Latvia has already received almost 100 such machines. It is planned to produce 25 this year, and 30 next year.
It has already been reported that a solemn ceremony was held at the military base in Đāži in honor of the handover of the first “Patria” 6×6 armored vehicle produced in Latvia to the NBS.
After the solemn ceremony, the armored vehicle was placed at the disposal of the 3rd Latgale Brigade National Guardsmen for permanent use.
The production of “Patria” 6×6 armored vehicles is part of the international cooperation program, to which Finland, Sweden and Germany have joined, and any other allied country can decide to participate. The purpose of the cooperation program is to implement the research and production of military equipment specifically for the needs of the armed forces of the member states.
