Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil published a condolence address on the occasion of the tragic plane crash at the “Graf Ignatievo” air base, in which Major Petko Dimitrov Dimitrov and Senior Lieutenant Vencislav Atanasov Dunkin died.
“We express our sincerest condolences to the families, relatives and colleagues of the two worthy Bulgarian soldiers, pilots Major Petko Dimitrov and Senior Lieutenant Ventsislav Dunkin, who died in the tragic plane crash at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base,” the Bulgarian Patriarchate writes
“In these moments of deep sorrow and indescribable pain, we recall the words of Saint Ephraim the Syrian: “Do not weep hopelessly for the deceased, but pray for them. Prayer for the repose of souls is the highest gift we can give them. Let us remember that God is full of mercy and will accept into His kingdom those who seek Him with sincere faith”. We pray that the All-Merciful God will accept the souls of the fallen and grant them eternal peace in His Heavenly Kingdom”, they also pointed out .
May this faith strengthen us in sorrow and pain, and may the Lord grant the families of those who died peace, comfort and strength in these difficult moments, because “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and he will save the humble in spirit”.
