Abbeyfeale Mourns the Loss of Patrick “Patsy” Prendiville

A beloved member of the Abbeyfeale community, Patrick “Patsy” Prendiville, of Hill Road, has passed away peacefully at the age of [age not provided]. He died on Friday, August 15th, 2025, while receiving exceptional care from the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Palliative Care Unit of University Hospital Kerry. His passing leaves a significant void in the lives of his family and friends.
A Life Remembered
Patsy Prendiville was predeceased by his father, Dick Prendiville. He is survived by his wife, Ann (née Quirke), and their four sons: David, Kevin, Brian, and Conor. His family also includes his mother, Mary Jo, daughters-in-law Linda, Denise, Maria, and Cora, and six grandchildren – Freddie, Emily, Ben, Matthew, Cathal, and Aoife. He is also remembered fondly by his aunt Sheila, and the wider Prendiville and Quirke families, as well as numerous cousins, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
The outpouring of grief reflects the deep impact Patsy had on those around him. A family statement described him as a man who “lived life to the fullest and always put others first.”
Funeral Arrangements and Memorial Services
Reposing will take place at Harnett’s Funeral Home, The Square, Abbeyfeale (V94 AK44) on Sunday, August 17th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., offering an opportunity for the community to pay their respects.
A Requiem Mass celebrating Patsy’s life will be held at The Church of The Assumption, Abbeyfeale, on Monday, August 18th, at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed and can be accessed at: https://churchmedia.tv/church-of-the-assumption-abbeyfeale.
Following the Requiem Mass, a cremation service will be held at Shannon Crematorium at 2:00 p.m.
Honoring Patsy’s Memory
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Kerry, recognizing the compassionate care Patsy received during his final days. The family has also requested privacy at their home during this difficult time.
