This first novel by the former television host, autobiographical in scope, will be published next September.

1980s television star Patrick Sabatier, away from the small screen, has found a new vocation by publishing an autobiographical novel at the age of 70, his publisher announced on Tuesday. Signed by the former TF1 host, The letter is to be published by Éditions du Rocher on September 21.

“For his first novel, Patrick Sabatier was strongly inspired by the life of his parents. A trompe-l’oeil novel where personal story, memories and romantic saga are skilfully intertwined and where the sincerity of the author touches us deep down,” says the publisher in his presentation of the book.

A painful past revealed by a letter

The novel revolves around the life of Emma, born in 1924 in Rome, who will have two children, one of whom will become a television star.

“But a late revelation will shatter certainties, revealing a painful past that Emma thought was buried forever. A letter, a simple letter will reveal everything”, explain the editions of the Rock.

Patrick Sabatier had a mother of Italian origin, Émilienne Rossi, also born in 1924, and died in 2013. He always remained very discreet about his own story. Last seen on television on C8 in 2020, he hosts the show The guest in question on Europe 1.
