Title: Patrick Stewart Reflects on Working with Tom Hardy in “Star Trek: Nemesis”

Date: [Current Date]

Veteran actor Patrick Stewart, known for his iconic role as Captain Jean Luc Picard in the “Star Trek” franchise, has recently shared his reflections on his decades-long acting career. In particular, Stewart reminisced about his experience working with a young Tom Hardy on the 2002 film “Star Trek: Nemesis”.

Stewart, 83, joined the popular sci-fi franchise in 1987 as Captain Picard in the series “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. He has since reprised his role in various “Star Trek” movies and TV shows, with his most recent portrayal in the series “Star Trek: Picard”.

In his first memoir, titled “Making It So”, Stewart recalls shooting “Star Trek: Nemesis” and describes the film as “particularly weak”. Stewart noted that he did not have any exciting scenes to play, while Tom Hardy portrayed the movie’s villain, Shinzon. At the time, Hardy was a 24-year-old actor from London.

According to Stewart, Hardy remained isolated throughout the filming process and did not engage socially with the rest of the cast. He spent his off-set hours in his trailer with his girlfriend, leaving little opportunity to establish rapport with the other actors. However, Stewart clarifies that Hardy was not hostile, but rather challenging to connect with.

Stewart admitted that he did not expect Hardy to have a successful career following “Nemesis”. He recalled saying, “And there goes someone I think we shall never hear of again,” as Hardy left the set at the end of his role. However, Stewart expressed his pleasure at being proven wrong by Hardy’s subsequent rise to stardom.

Tom Hardy has indeed become a prominent name in Hollywood, starring in notable films and series such as “Peaky Blinders”, “Inception”, “The Dark Knight Rises”, and “Venom”, among others.

Stewart recently wrapped the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard” in April. The series picks up 18 years after the events of “Nemesis” and follows retired Admiral Jean-Luc Picard as he navigates a new chapter in his life while grieving the loss of Lieutenant Commander Data, portrayed by Brent Spiner.

“Making It So: A Memoir” by Patrick Stewart is now available for fans to delve deeper into the actor’s career and insights.
