They will patrol the pedestrian zones for violators – BGN 30 fine for riding a bike outside the bike lanes

Patrol pairs on bicycles will monitor in Burgas for trouble-free traffic on bicycles and scooters. This was decided at a special meeting dedicated to the prevention and protection of public order organized by the local parliament.

“The meeting was part of the new working model of the municipal council, which I, as chairman, and my fellow municipal councilors want to impose – broad discussions on important topics for the city and the most intensive and close collaboration with all institutions responsible for protecting the public order,” said lawyer Mihail Hadjiyanev.

The imposition of control

in the management of electric scooters became relevant in recent years, when their number in Burgas significantly increased, and with it the accidents in pedestrian areas. Cyclists also caused problems.

“Limiting the movement of scooters and bicycles in these areas is important for the safety of everyone in Burgas, especially in the active season.

In this regard, the Ministry of the Interior expressed readiness to organize campaigns together with the municipality regarding the way of using individual electric vehicles, the permitted places for driving them and the safety measures for everyone in traffic,” said Hadjiyanev.

For more effective control, the Ministry of the Interior proposed creating joint teams with the municipal police for surveillance in the central part of the city, along the pedestrian areas and in the Sea Garden.

Their task will be to monitor violators and impose fines. BGN 30 is the fine for riding a bike outside the bike lanes, BGN 50 is for electric scooters.

The local authority chased the offenders 2 years ago, when it determined the amount of fines and handed out slips to citizens of Burgas for driving incorrectly in the center. These were mostly scooter riders in the supercenter, but now with the creation of the patrols, the perimeter of control will expand.

At the meeting in the municipal council, a decision was made to prepare a strategy for the development of public order and security in Burgas and a plan for interaction between the institutions for the upcoming season.

It was attended by the deputy director of the ODMV Commissioner Gencho Atanasov, the Chief of the Security Police Commissioner Marin Dimitrov, the Chief of the Traffic Police Chief Inspector Plamen Nikolov, Commissioner Stoyan Grozdanchev, the head of the Gendarmerie Department, the heads of the Police Police in the city, the members of the Standing Committee on public order and security to the municipal council and the director of UKORS Veselin Vasilev.

The participants decided to hold future discussions on topics important to society. Among them are the control of indiscriminate parking of cars on the streets of emergency lights; taking dogs out without the use of a muzzle and lead; dealing with vehicles making excessive noise.

Specialists united around the idea of

regulations for pets,

to regulate their walks. Parks are shared spaces visited by many people of different ages.

This requires dog owners to walk them in designated areas, police and municipal officials said.
