The Thai resort town of Pattaya plans to cancel the mandatory 14-day quarantine for foreign tourists, including those from Russia, from October 1. This was announced by the mayor of the city of Songtaya Kunploma.

“Foreign tourists who have received two doses of the vaccine will be able to enter Pattaya without having to undergo a 14-day quarantine. But they will have to stay at the Bang Lamung and Sattahip resorts for seven days before going elsewhere, ”said Mr Kunploma (quoted by Interfax).

The mayor explained that tourists from those countries for which the Thai Ministry of Health has determined a low level of risk will be able to arrive at the resort. Vaccination will need to be completed with drugs approved in these countries no earlier than a year before the trip. The minister specified that such countries include Russia and Germany. At the same time, children under the age of 12 will have to present certificates of PCR tests done no earlier than 72 hours before the trip, according to the Bangkok Post.

Tourists will be required to stay in hotels that have received certificates of compliance with hygiene standards from the Thai authorities. Those tourists who received two doses of the vaccine will be able to enter Pattaya without the need to go through a 14-day quarantine. However, before traveling elsewhere, they will have to stay at Bang Lamung and Sattahip for seven days.

In early May, the Thai authorities announced the introduction of a tourist tax in the country from 2022. It is expected that the proceeds from the collection will go towards the creation of a tourism fund for use in emergencies.
