Paulo Diógenes, comedian from Ceará, dies at age 62

Died this Wednesday, 14th, the comedian Paulo Diogenes, aged 62. The information was confirmed by the Ceará native’s sister, Glória Diógenes.

The interpreter of the character Raimundinha was hospitalized to treat lung problems, but, so far, family and friends have not disclosed the official cause of Paulo’s death.

“I just lost a lifelong friend. I love you my brother”, wrote Gloria, the comedian’s sister, on social media. Humorist Luciano Lopes, a friend of Paulo, also lamented Diógenes’ death:

“The mood in Ceará is in mourning. Today, God took from us one of the greatest icons of laughter in Ceará, our beloved and my godfather Paulo Diógenes. How much you will be missed, master. Thank you for everything”.

Paulo became known in Ceará in 1988, with the appearance of his character Raimundinha. Furthermore, he was a councilor in Fortaleza, for the PSD, from 2012 to 2016.
