Pausanias Papageorgiou takes over as the spokesperson for SYRIZA – PS, following the resignation of Voulas Kehagias on the morning of Tuesday, September 10.
Pausanias Papageorgiou was until recently the deputy spokesperson for the opposition party, and has served as the general secretary of the New Generation, among other roles, and has participated in numerous scientific and advisory committees, international coordinating bodies, and supervisory councils.
Pausanias Papageorgiou belongs to the generation of “40-somethings” active officials, with a track record in public discourse and extensive experience in political representation both in Greece and abroad. Alongside his professional career in his scientific field, he has served among other roles as the General Secretary of New Generation and has participated in a multitude of scientific and advisory committees, international coordinating bodies, and supervisory councils. After 2019, he remained a close advisor to former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on International and European Relations. He is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Hamburg, Germany, and holds a master’s degree in Humanities.
