The cash flow of small businesses is under pressure. This is what the latest barometer on payment delays published this Tuesday by the Altares firm indicates. While the overall rate of good payers is at its highest ever in France (49.3%) and the average delay for French companies is stabilizing around 12 days, the situation is becoming worryingly tense in SMEs and VSEs. .

During the first half of 2023, companies with 10 to 49 employees certainly kept their payment delays under 11.5 days. But companies with 50 to 200 employees saw their delays increase by more than one day over a year (12.4 days in the second quarter of 2023 compared to 11.2 a year earlier). In VSEs, conversely, it is the largest structures (more than 3 employees) which have managed to maintain around 11.5 days while the smallest, with less than 3 employees, have increased to 12, 2 days in the second trimester.
