The Ministry of Economy and Finance reported this Friday, February 9, that it had already complied with the payment of salaries corresponding to the month of January 2024 of all public servants.

The Ministry of Economy paid January salaries to the entire public sector.

At the end of January, only salaries had been paid for the Armed Forces, National Police, health and education sectors. The State Portfolio recalled that “due to the illiquidity of the fiscal fund,” it had to prioritize payments.

However, in the following days, progress was made with coverage of the rest of the public sector, details the Ministry of Finance in a statement.

The institution recalls that the Government of Daniel Noboa “inherited a serious fiscal situation”, which is why it has adopted mechanisms to cover payments and make progress in reducing arrears.

The national government hopes to raise more revenue with the tax reform approved on December 19, 2023, which is already in force, and the Law to Confront the Internal Armed Conflict, which has also been approved in the Assembly.
