The Pazardzhik Municipality has provided the “Mountain Rescue – Pazardzhik District” Association with fire-fighting equipment to protect volunteers in cases of joint firefighting with the city’s fire brigade. The provided equipment includes

face mask with two filter sockets and wide panoramic visor, bayonet filter against organic gases and vapors, genuine leather boots with metal bomb and plate, heat-resistant sole, fire-resistant gloves, professional fire-resistant hoods, fire-resistant work jackets and trousers, as well as work nubuck boots, heat resistant up to 300°C.

“The municipality of Pazardzhik was hit by a series of fires in the past months. Those who were on the front lines in the fight against the elements and tirelessly, for days, fought and continue to fight with all their might for the preservation of Pazardzhik. These are the fire brigades and the professional volunteers who worked in sync in the most difficult situations, which apparently resulted in one of the fastest extinguished fires of the season4, commented the mayor of Pazardzhik municipality Petar Kulenski, on whose initiative the equipment was provided. He added that “while the fire brigades performed at an exceptional level, the dozens of volunteers supporting them did so entirely with the means at hand and thanks to will and good organization among themselves. However, in extreme situations, they alone are not enough,” emphasized Kulenski.

“The lack of equipment puts these brave and valiant people in further danger. For this reason, I want us to provide these same people with what is necessary for their safety. We have provided critically needed equipment for the Association “Mountain Rescue – Pazardzhik Region” from dozens of specialized masks and filters, heat-resistant boots, jackets, pants, hoods, gloves and anti-gas filters. In this way, we are not only increasing the ability of volunteers to extinguish side by side with fire services, and we protect those who protect us.

I am grateful to everyone who came to the rescue at the most critical moments this summer. It is when we react to difficult moments together that we show what a true community of people who love their hometowns is capable of,” said the mayor of Pazardzhik.

After a joint fundraising campaign, the association now has an industrial thermal imaging drone for specialized rescue actions. It will help not only in searching for people, but also for reconnaissance in case of fires, floods, destruction and any other rescue and search activities.
