jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has been asked to be realistic in nominating external candidates with high electability if they want to win the 2024 Banten gubernatorial election. For example, supporting the Airin-Arief pair.

This was conveyed by political observer and Executive Director of the Indonesian Public Institute (IPI) Karyono Wibowo in response to the latest Alvara Strategi Indonesia survey, Saturday (24/08/2024).

According to Karyono, currently, if we look at the results of the latest survey released by Alvara Strategi Indonesia, for example, gubernatorial or deputy gubernatorial candidates who are PDIP cadres only have an electability of under 10 percent.

Rano Karno for example only has 8.7 percent. Another cadre, Ade Sumardi, only has an electability of under 1 percent, which is only 0.4 percent.

“Therefore, in my opinion, if PDIP wants to win the Banten gubernatorial election, then it must nominate the strongest candidate for governor and deputy governor. It doesn’t matter if it nominates an external candidate, as long as they are willing to join PDIP or be naturalized,” said Karyono.

For example, Karyono continued, the Airin-Arief pair, based on surveys, clearly have a high level of electability.

“If PDIP nominates Airin-Arief, then this pair has the greatest chance of winning. The strongest,” he said.

According to Karyono, it would be different if PDIP did have cadres with a high level of electability.

PDI Perjuangan is asked to be realistic in nominating external candidates who have high electability if they want to win the 2024 Banten gubernatorial election.
