jpnn.comPONTIANAK – The Regional Leadership Council of the West Kalimantan Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle has opened registration for prospective candidates for West Kalimantan regional head, both governor-deputy governor, as well as regents-deputy regents, and mayors-deputy mayors.

Chairman of the West Kalimantan PDIP DPD Lasarus said that registration was scheduled to take place April 15-30 2024.

According to Lasarus, this cakada registration is not only open to internal PDIP cadres. Following instructions from the central leadership council (DPP), external figures or non-PDIP cadres who have the competence to advance the region are also welcome to register.

“PDI Perjuangan is open to nominating anyone as long as the person concerned has the aim of advancing West Kalimantan,” said Lasarus in Pontianak, Sunday (14/4).

According to Lasarus, even though PDIP has the ability to nominate its own candidates based on seat acquisition, the party will still form a coalition with other parties. He emphasized that regional development must be based on the spirit of mutual cooperation.

“By obtaining the existing seats, we (PDIP) can actually carry it ourselves. However, we certainly cannot be selfish because developing a region the size of West Kalimantan cannot be done alone because we can solve regional problems with mutual cooperation,” he said.

Apart from registering candidates for governor and deputy governor, PDIP also opened a selection process for candidates for regent/deputy regent and candidates for mayor/mayor.

Registration for candidates for regent/deputy regent and mayoral/mayoral candidates is carried out at each PDIP Branch Leadership Council (DPC) office.
