Bangladesh won the first Test against Pakistan. Mushfiq-Sadman defeated Pakistan by a big margin of 10 wickets in Rawalpindi Test on Sunday (August 25) afternoon.

At the end of the match, Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto dedicated this historic victory to the victims of the student movement in July and August. After the match he said, ‘It is an announcement from the team. We dedicate this victory to those who lost their lives in the recent anti-discrimination student movement and pray for their departed souls.’

After coming to the press conference, Shanto said about the victory that was achieved in the ongoing political situation of the country, ‘It is very important. I think we have been going through a tough time in the last month. Still there are some problems here (Bangladesh). We all support each other. This win might put a little smile on everyone’s face. We are happy for that. We will try to do something like this in the next game.’

757 people have died in the anti-discrimination student movement so far. Thousands of people were injured.

In the Rawalpindi Test, Pakistan batted first and declared the innings with 448 runs for 6 wickets. In reply, Mushfiqur Rahim’s 191, Sadman Islam’s 91, Mehdi Hasan Miraj’s 77, Liton Das’s 56 and Muminul Haque’s 50-run innings made Bangladesh score 565 runs in 167.3 overs losing all wickets.

Pakistan then went into bat in their second innings and were bowled out for just 146 runs in 55.5 overs by Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Shakib Al Hasan. The target of victory in front of Bangladesh is only 30 runs. Bangladesh removed it without losing a wicket in 6.3 overs. And confirmed a big win by 10 wickets.
