On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of late former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, a peace rally was held in Chennai under the leadership of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Sunday.

Karunanidhi’s fourth death anniversary was observed on Sunday. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin paid tribute by sprinkling flowers to Karunanidhi’s portrait which was placed below the statue of Karunanidhi which was decorated with flowers in the Omanturar Government Garden complex. Following him, senior officials of DMK including ministers also paid tribute.

Peace rally: A peace rally was held towards Karunanidhi’s memorial at Marina. The Chief Minister presided and walked. Ministers Durai Murugan, KN Nehru, Ponmudi, I Periyasamy, EV Velu, Thangam Tennarasu, PK Sekababu, Anbil Mahes Poiyamozhi, Siva Sang, Organizing Secretary RS Bharathi, Parliamentary DMK Committee Vice President Kanimozhi , Member of Legislative Assembly Udayanidhi Stalin, Mayor Priya etc. walked.

The chief minister, senior administrators, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani also paid tributes to Karunanidhi’s statue by placing floral wreaths at the memorial.

The Chief Minister went to Gopalapuram House and paid homage to Karunanidhi’s portrait and later came to Anna Vithalayam to pay his respects to the statue there. He also inaugurated the bust of Karunanidhi in Besant Nagar.

A message issued by the Chief Minister on the occasion of Karunanidhi’s memorial day:

The oldest Taninik leader of the Tamil community! Today is your anniversary. That day we forgot you? I am carrying the party and the government on my shoulders with the courage that you are leading from the shadows. We continue the journey in the light of your eyes. Our feet go your way. We live by the motto of brother and sister. Long live the artist! Chief Minister M.K.Stalin said to congratulate the leader.

The DMK showered flowers on Karunanidhi’s portrait at various places across Tamil Nadu.
