The ship, which was designed to fly the flag at sea, is less likely to hit the head of the ship’s experts as to what kind of design it will go to the dock. Half-built on the Baltic coast of Germany, the giant ship, dubbed the ‘Global Dream 2’, is now being sold for a pittance.
Shipbuilding company MV Werften was involved in the construction of the ship. The company, which faced a severe economic crisis at the time of the Govt., Has filed for bankruptcy in January 2022.
No suitable customers have come forward to purchase the half-built Global Dream 2. As a result, MV Werften has become a part-time seller.
The hull of the ship is to be given at scrap price. They have already sold the part (Keel) that is attached to the base of the ship to prevent it from tilting. That too in terms of lead being brass to brass.
The capacity of this ship may surprise you. It can carry 9,000 people. It was to accommodate 2,500 cabins. The ship’s sister ship was built in 2018 under the name ‘Global Dream’. The question now is whether the ship will see the sea as its work is largely completed.
Construction of the Global Dream 2 began in 2019. Its total capacity is 2,08,000 tons. Perhaps this ship would have become the sixth largest ship in the world if it had been completed. In the top 5 are Royal Caribbean Oasis ships.
