Last weekend, Pedro Acosta received, within the framework of the Motul Grand Prix of the Valencian Community, the 2023 Triumph Triple Trophy prize, with which the prestigious British manufacturer, which promotes the Moto2 category, seeks to recognize more than just victories and reward the work behind each race, fast lap and comeback, as well as highlight the enormously competitive nature of the category. intermediate.

It has been a perfect season for the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider, who has managed to be crowned Moto2 World Champion and, in addition, he has confirmed his jump to the premier category, MotoGP, next season 2024. Furthermore, this is the first time that the Moto2 Champion also manages to win the TTT crown, something that demonstrates the superiority of Pedro Acosta during this season.

The Triumph Triple Trophy has a scoring system divided into three categories: best comeback (7 points for the driver or drivers who gain the most positions from the start to the checkered flag), pole position (6 points) and fastest lap in career (5 points). It has been in these last two categories in which the Spanish driver has stood out especially.

The one from Murcia finished with 58 points in the competition developed by the Hinckley manufacturer. In fact, his victory in the TTT was confirmed at the same time as his World Champion title, in the Malaysian Grand Prix, with two runs to spare, At which point there were still three drivers in contention to win the trophy: Acosta, Taiga Hada and Jake Dixon.

However, thanks to the particularly competitive nature of the categoryFermín Aldeguer climbed positions to become second in the trophy, linking a streak of good results and remaining 20 points behind Acosta and 10 over the third place, Taiga Hada. As a reward, Pedro Acosta has received a brand new and exclusive Triumph Street Triple 765 RS with a unique design made specifically for the TTT winner at Triumph’s Hinckley headquarters. A motorcycle whose engine is the basis of the competition engine for Moto2, and which has already been seen up close at the Triumph Triple Trophy presentation ceremony.
