Pedro Acosta finished the sprint race today without pain or glory. The GasGas driver started on Friday in a big way, but at the moment of confirmation, in the qualifying session, he lost all signs of being at the front. In the end He took sixth place, which is not bad for the rookie in the premier class.
Already in the Saturday race “everything was complicated at the beginning,” commented Mazarrón Shark. “Then the pace in the race was good,” he admitted, but aware that it was not his best weekend, although it was not the worst either. Today he finished 6th, the same position he started from, and not far from Espargaró and Bastianini, who did not get on the podium either.. And with that result, it once again established itself as the best KTM on the entire grid.
“In particular I found difficulties in turn 3, when I found myself in front of Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi, who were too conservative“, stated the Spanish pilot. “Al Finally, Marco passed, while Fabio and I found the rear tire of the motorcycle skidding. As I have already said, we have not been able to advance, that has been the bad thing”.
Acosta is aware that the priorities in MotoGP are different compared to Moto2, where he did not have to worry as much about tire wear. Although not everything is bad, he assures: “In the past (in reference to his time in Moto2), Preserving the tires was not the priority, but as I mentioned yesterday, we have one of the most efficient bikes of the group in terms of the front part, especially in terms of grip. This allows us to exploit different trajectories to be faster”.
Once again, Acosta left a fact to highlight: He was the best of the KTM riders. He finished 6th, and the closest, Jack Miller, who finished two places below, 8th with the official motorcycle. Not to mention Brad Binder, who was 15th, or his boxing partner, Augusto Fernández, 17th: “That doesn’t mean anything,” said a humble Acosta.
“So Miller chose the soft front and I imagine he suffered. He got as overheated or more than me, that he had the hard time. I think there are more reasons to be happy with the nine points, although four is not many, but perhaps in the future they could be important”stated Acosta.
Acosta is right, because he is already one of the leading drivers in the general classification. The first is still Martín, who already has 104 points in his locker. Bastianini is with 76, while Bagnaia is with 75. And only two below, with 73, Acosta is closely stalking his rivals. And you are right about that “perhaps in the future they may be important”, because right now he is in the fight for the title.

Also anecdotal that Acosta has received his first fine in MotoGP. As Ricard Jové reported, “He has been fined 500 euros for doing a practice start with drivers still standing in front of him on the grid“. Something that, prohibited, will cause you to lose 500 euros.
