Cuban singer-songwriter Pedro Luis Ferrer, visiting Havana, dedicated emotional words to his recent meeting with the family of actor and comedian Osvaldo Doimeadiós.
Through his Facebook profile, Ferrer highlighted that “visiting the Doimeadiós family – Osvaldo, Vilma, Andrea… – is good luck that many will always want to have, if they achieve the joy of experiencing it.”
Along with several images of the night, the author of “La vaquita Pijirigua” warned that “when you cross the door, believing that you will find the modest and silent gathering of the family, you are ready to spend the night under the quiet and slow conversation tinged by the little drink and maybe a yawn… No, nothing like that.”
In his chronicle on the social network, Ferrera continued narrating that “suddenly, you stumble upon an impetuous group of carousing and boisterous countrymen, who receive you as if you had spent the day with them in a swimsuit, frolicking on the beach.”
“They haven’t let us touch even a croquette until you arrived,” they denounce in chorus. Thank goodness you arrived early. And, immediately afterwards, they sincerely hug you and express the enormous emotion they feel at being able to shake your hand,” he stated.
Together with his daughter, Lena Ferrer, the singer evoked how fortunate they were “to have enjoyed the Creole amenity of this unforgettable time” which, he said, occurred between “humor, anecdotes and thought; in the company – pleasant surprise! – of a bunch of friends from the Doimeadiós guild, whose jocularity intelligently supports the brilliant witticisms of the host teacher.”
In addition to the family of the Cuban theater director, other artists such as Adrián Berazaín, Rigoberto Ferrera and Hilario Peña, among others, gathered at the evening. With them and among all the hubbub described above, the time for music arrived.
“If you are a troubadour and you commit the involuntary act of not bringing your guitar with you, you should not worry: there will always be a singer who will lend you his. Nothing is more comforting than singing a song for a group of countrymen who want to enjoy it to the fullest. And you won’t have to assume the center of attention alone: an alternation of spontaneous singing, actors and comedians, with an unstoppable profusion of jokes and monologues, will diversify the focus of interest, until it’s your turn again. What wonderful relaxation: offering and receiving!” Ferrer continued.
Finally, the singer-songwriter highlighted “the delicious croquettes and pizzas” offered by Vilma, Doimeadiós’ wife “for when the stomach cries out.” In addition to these dishes, he assured that “you will be able to satisfy yourself with the variety of delicacies that cover the table – almost everything ‘homemade’, with the care of food affection. Because, as my guaracha says, ‘without eating’/ you can’t be there’.”
“What more is needed to take a little leap into the clouds, and put aside the worldly struggle for a few hours? I still have to wait – God Nature permitting – for the final stretch of this Havana day with the Doimeadiós family,” Ferrer thus put an end to the narration of this meeting between artists, friends and family.
