The Portuguese Pedro Pablo Pichardo claimed silver in the triple jump at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, falling short of defending his gold medal from Tokyo. With a best jump of 17.84 meters, he finished second only to Spaniard Jordan Díaz, who cleared 17.86 meters. This podium finish added to Portugal’s medal tally, with the nation now having three medals in the current Games. Pichardo became the sixth Portuguese athlete to stand on the Olympic podium twice.
Beyond Díaz, who had already defeated Pichardo earlier in Rome at the Europeans, the third-place finisher at these Games is Italian Andy Díaz, who cleared 17.64 meters.
