With a ‌best jump of 17.84 meters, he finished second ⁤only to⁤ Spaniard Jordan Díaz, who cleared⁤ 17.86 meters. This podium⁤ finish⁤ added to Portugal’s medal tally, with the nation ‍now having three medals‌ in the current Games. Pichardo⁤ became the​ sixth ⁣Portuguese‌ athlete ⁣to stand‍ on ⁤the Olympic podium twice.

Beyond ​Díaz, who had already ​defeated Pichardo earlier in Rome at the Europeans, the third-place finisher at these Games is Italian Andy Díaz, ⁤who cleared⁣ 17.64 meters.
