At 21:34 minutes. That is the exact time at which Pedro Piqueras ended his long career as a journalist. The veteran communicator is retiring at the age of 68 after spending 51 of them dedicated to this profession and 18 in charge of the Telecinco news programs. December 21 was the date that he had marked with an X for a long time to conclude his working life.

The first news with which he opened his latest news was the shooting in Prague, where there were more than 15 deaths. While the last one he gave way to was about the loss of exclusive rights to Mickey Mouse.

However, during the live connections made by colleagues, some wanted to thank Piqueras for working with him. Thus, Marcos Méndez, who is in Iceland, has ended his connection like this: «They are going to allow me. Pedro, it has been a pleasure and an honor to work with you. Many thanks for everything”.

Later, when another colleague made the connection to report on the Christmas Lottery draw, they sent her a greeting from her team. «From my heart, Pedro, it has been a great luck to have you.» Piqueras thanked him from the set and smiled.

Thus, this Thursday was his last news report. After 34 years on the small screen, the journalist has decided to put an end to his journey in front of the cameras.

And the decisive moment arrived, Piqueras said goodbye forever: “The time has come to say goodbye, but this time I’m not going to say until tomorrow,” he began before reviewing his career. «I close 51 years of profession, between Diario Pueblo, Radio Nacional and 34 of those years on television. I appeared for the first time with Pilar Miró on Spanish Television, it was 1988. I became ’embedded’ on the screen. Twelve years at Antena 3, and 18 in this house (Telecinco).

And he wanted to thank the viewers for these years. «I am very grateful to everyone who has taught me this trade. And to you for allowing me to enter your homes. “It’s time to go,” he noted. And he has presented who will be his successor, Carlos Franganillo.

«I wish you times of less tension, more justice and more happiness. “Very good night and see you always,” she concluded.
