For the conduct of a fair trial and effective sentences for the perpetrators of the so-called A “revival process” is called for in a report submitted to the Military District Prosecutor’s Office by the chairman of the DPS and the PG of the DPS Delyan Peevski, Yordan Tsonev, Halil Letifov and Hamid Hamid – vice-presidents of the PG of the DPS in the 50th National Assembly . This was announced by the press center of the DPS.

“For more than 30 years, the prosecutor’s office has been conducting an investigation, which, however, has never led to the trial of both the ideologues and the perpetrators of the crimes aimed at the destruction of Bulgarian Muslims because of their ethnic and religious affiliation,” the report says.

“We insist that the institution headed by you immediately take actions to establish and verify the facts of the events of 1984, as well as those of 1989 and at a later stage, and when crimes are established, to proceed with the filing of charges under Article 416, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code for committing genocide against Bulgarian Muslims,” the whistleblowers wrote.

It is also said: “In this sense, we find it essential to establish the criminal role of the traitors that the State Security has infiltrated among the Bulgarian Muslims, who first carried out whistle-blowing activity, and at a later stage, using the righteous anger of the victims of the Revival process, built political-economic structures of a mafia-oligarchic model”.

Only by effectively prosecuting and bringing to court the ideologues of the so-called “revival process” by the communist party, its direct perpetrators and the informants from State Security, who benefited at the expense of the victims of the genocide against the Bulgarian Muslims, justice will be there.

In the report, the petitioners recall that in 2022, the Sofia Court of Appeal ordered the Military District Prosecutor’s Office to continue the investigation into the crimes against Bulgarian Turks and Muslims and canceled the decision to terminate the criminal proceedings. This will allow to avoid further neglect of the case on the grounds that the absolute statute of limitations has expired for the atrocities of the communist regime and the repressive apparatus of totalitarianism.

In conclusion, the signal says “we believe that only through a fair trial and effective sentences for the perpetrators of the so-called “revival process”, Bulgaria will be able to close the shameful page of its communist past and the failed transition by the DS and become in an equal partner of the democratic legal world”.
