The chairman of the PG of the DPS Delyan Peevski supports the position of the Atlantic Council of Bulgaria, from where they called on Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for a firm position regarding “Russia’s increasingly brazen hybrid aggression”. This was reported by the party’s press center.

In its letter today, the organization commented on the case of August 29, when the Bulgarian citizen Alexandra Mileva was arrested for expressing a civil position in front of the Russian “cultural and information” center. Subsequently, the court declared the arrest illegal, which, according to the ASB, calls into question the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and their possible dependence on pro-Russian forces, Peevski recalls in his position.

Thus, ASB warns of hybrid events organized by pro-Russian organizations in Bulgaria, as an example an event in Sofia on June 1-2, supported by a number of “Bulgarian” structures and the Russian embassy, Peevski reports. According to ASB, these events aim to propagandize the Russian imperial narrative and gather information on potential collaborators.

The party recalls the Council’s recommendations to the government, including the closure of the Russian “Cultural and Information” Center and the “Moscow House” in Sofia, as well as the confiscation of the “Kamchia” sanatorium-rehabilitation complex. It also insists on continuing the dismantling of the Soviet monument in Sofia and to reduce the number of Russian diplomats in Bulgaria to the level of the Bulgarian representation in Moscow.

ASB expresses concerns that the passivity of the Bulgarian institutions may lead to a serious threat to the freedom and independence of the country and insists on decisive actions to protect Bulgarian national interests.
