Pegasus spying: Apple for legal battle | National | Deshabhimani

New Delhi
IPhone maker Apple Corps has filed a lawsuit against Israeli company NSO Group, the maker of Pegasus spy software. California has filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking action for trespassing on an iPhone and leaking users’ information. Pegasus wants to impose a ban on users of Apple products or services so that no action can be taken against them. In 2019, Facebook also filed a lawsuit against the NSO.

The Supreme Court has ordered a probe into allegations that government agencies in India are widely leaking information about Pegasus as a weapon. In India too, it has been revealed that a large number of iPhone users have been the victims of leaks. In the petition, Apple alleges that spy software was used to monitor journalists, researchers, social workers and critics, and that it had the support of governments.

The petition also states that there will be serious repercussions if the misuse of anti-terrorism and other serious crime prevention measures is not stopped.
