Peleg climbed to 5th place in the European Surfing Championships

The European Windsurfing Championship provides days of transcendence for Shahar Tzobari’s national team members. If yesterday Shahar Tibi won the marathon cruise and climbed to sixth place, today it was the turn of the young Daniela Peleg (18), from the Sdot Yam club. Peleg went out to water today when she is in 13th place, knowing she needs a good day of cruising in order to reach a reasonable range from the top ten. The day was indeed good, with four cruises in which she screwed up in the top ten (4,7,3,5) and a jump of eight places, all the way to fifth place.

Shahar Tibi dropped one place, to seventh place with cruises in places 11,5,38,18 and she continues to fight for a place in the medal cruise. Another contender in a realistic position for the top ten is Sharon Kantor, who is in 15th place (25,38,12,13 today).

In women the competition is particularly close, with the three leading a great distance from the second stick, but the points difference between fourth place and 12th place is 26 points in total. The small difference drains all the pressure for tomorrow’s cruise day, the last before the medal cruise, where about 16 skiers will compete for about ten places. Katie Spichkov is ranked 43rd.

In men, Yoav Omer is still in the picture of the medal cruises, when today he dropped one place to 12th place, a distance of 4 points in total from tenth place. Tom Reuben also dropped two places and is now in 17th place.

In the IQ Foil model, the score of the top ten is reset when reaching the medal cruises and the competition actually opens completely, so the great importance is the entry to the last day of the competition, where each and every competitor can reach the medal.
