Chennai: The central government has written a letter to the Tamil Nadu government regarding the pen-shaped memorial in the sea to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi.

According to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stal’s Legislative Assembly, under Rule No. 110 last year, a memorial to Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK, will be set up in Marina. 24 declared.

Speaking at that time, Chief Minister Stalin said, “In order for the public to know the achievements and thoughts of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, a memorial will be set up in the Anna Memorial complex on Kamarajar Road with an area of ​​2.21 acres at an estimated cost of 39 crores. The memorial will be set up at the place where Karunanidhi’s body was cremated in the Anna Memorial Complex. Films will be featured,” he said.

Following this, Chief Minister Stalin published the model map of the memorial to be set up for Karunanidhi on his Twitter page. It has a Karunanidhi memorial in the shape of the rising sun and a huge pen-shaped pillar.

Following this, the Tamil Nadu Coastal Zone Authority gave permission to construct a pen-shaped monument at a height of 42 m in the sea at the back of the Karunanidhi memorial.

This memorial will be constructed in the sea at a cost of Rs.81 crore. In order to reach this, a bridge will be constructed at a distance of 650 meters from the memorial, 290 meters from the beach and 360 meters from the sea. Now that the State Coastal Zone Management Authority has given permission, it has been sent for the approval of the Central Government.

In this regard, the Central Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department has written a letter to the Tamil Nadu Public Works Department. This letter has been written pointing out the decisions taken in the Central Expert Committee meeting. It has been advised to prepare and send the Environmental Impact Assessment Report, Environmental Management Plan, Risk Assessment Report and Disaster Management Plan for this project. It has also been said that a public hearing should be held in this regard.
