A fine of Dh7,000 per person is calculated as 1 percent of the total number of employees in the company. According to the calculation, if the organization has to appoint 10 natives, it will have to pay a fine of 70,000 dirhams, the minister said.

The law stipulates that private companies with more than 50 employees must employ 2% of the natives per year. The appointment should be at the rate of 1% every six months. The minister said that although there is no change in the percentage of repatriation and the penalty, the annual inspection has become a semi-annual inspection.

Companies that did not complete 2 percent indigenization last year must achieve 3% indigenization by July 1. Targeting 10% of private companies to be indigenous by 2027 at a rate of 2% per annum.

A fine of 40 crore dirhams was levied from various companies last year alone for not carrying out repatriation. It is estimated that there was a 70% increase in the number of Emirati employees in the private sector last year following indigenization. The minister also said that companies employing more than a certain number of natives will get financial concessions.
