Pennsylvania Guidance Counselor Accused of Sexually Assaulting Middle School Student

Kelly Ann Schutte, a 35-year-old guidance counselor from Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, has been charged with institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age.

The allegations surfaced after a 14-year-old boy told his mother about his romantic and sexual relationship with Schutte, who worked as a guidance counselor at Pennridge South Middle School. The teen’s parents found their son hiding behind a parked vehicle after he called them in a panic from Schutte’s home, where a family member had discovered them kissing and forced the boy to leave. The teen revealed to police that he and Schutte had engaged in sexual contact in both Bucks and Montgomery counties in June and July of 2023.

The investigation also found evidence of communication between Schutte and the teen on school district messaging app “Canvas” and the social media app Snapchat. Investigators discovered messages and pictures on the teen’s cellphone as well as handwritten notes that confirmed his statements. Surveillance footage from a supermarket in Pennsburg showed Schutte and the teen together, with Schutte purchasing a bottle of wine.

In addition to the alleged sexual assault at Schutte’s home, police found evidence that she had sexually assaulted the teen at his home in Bucks County while his family was away in mid-June. The Pennridge School District responded by placing Schutte on administrative leave and barring her from entering school district premises or having any contact with students and staff. Superintendent Angelo Berrios III stated that the district is cooperating with the District Attorney’s Office.

Schutte was arraigned and posted $25,000 unsecured bail. When contacted by NBC10, her attorney had no comment on the charges.
