In the stock market, benchmark indices traded lower with moderate losses in morning trade. The Nifty fell below 17,800 points and then recovered. Shares of BSE IT, banking and finance stocks declined. Meanwhile, BSE Media, Pharma and oil and gas stocks saw gains.

The Sensex is down 497 points at 59,679.32. NTPC, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro and Ultratech Cement are the top gainers in the Sensex. On the other hand, shares of HDFC Bank, HDFC, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and TCS traded lower. The BSE Midcap traded 92 points higher at 25,165.86. The BSE SmallCap Index was extended by 183 points to trade at 29,765.99.

The Nifty 50 index was down 137 points at 17,820.00. Similarly, the Nifty Bank traded down 462 points at 37,605.45. Coal India, NPTC, Tata Steel, UPL and TVS Laboratories are trading in green on the Nifty 50. On the other hand, shares of HDFC Bank, HDFC, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and TCS traded lower.
