Despite better-than-expected quarterly results, HDFC Bank was the biggest loser on the BSE Sensex. The bank’s consolidated net profit rose 20.9 percent year-on-year to Rs 9,579 crore in the first quarter of fiscal 2023. Total loans of HDFC Bank, the country’s largest private sector bank, fell after interest rates were hiked in May.
All sectors are operating in profit today. BSE IT and BSE Tech sectors are leading in today’s session. Both are up more than 2.5 percent. The BSE Sensex is currently up 478 points at 54,239.82. Tech Mahindra, Infosys and Wipro were top gainers on the BSE Sensex, while HDFC Bank, HDFC, Mahindra and Mahindra were top losers.
The Nifty 50 index rose 150 points to trade at 16,198.85. Tech Mahindra, Infosys and Hindalco Industries are among the gainers in the index. Britannia Industries, HDFC Bank and HDFC are loss making companies.
