Domestic stock markets plunged in early trade today. The BSE Utilities and Power sector fell more than one per cent and suffered the biggest loss. On the other hand, the BSE metal and BSE healthcare sectors gained 2.55% and 1.23% respectively. During this period, the total inflow of foreign investors in the Indian stock market was Rs.2800.14 crore and the net outflow of domestic institutional investors was Rs.678.45 crore.
The Nifty 50 index was down 51 points at 17,235 and the Nifty Bank was down 269 points at 36,159. In the Nifty 50 index, Hindalco Industries, Coal India, ONGC, Maruti Suzuki and Sun Pharmaceuticals were the top gainers. On the other hand, shares of Kotak Bank, Britannia, Hindustan Unilever and SBI Life Insurance fell.
